Meet the Agents - Michelle Grace

Michelle was born and raised in Stroudsburg, the heart of the beautiful Pocono Mountains. She likes to hike, kayak and “sneak up on nature”. Michelle and her partner live in Orefield with her rescued island cat Mr. Meow. Michelle has a daughter, Kyla and a step-son David; both grown and married.

She began her insurance career working for a French reinsurance company at their US headquarters in Dallas, Texas. Michelle was first licensed as an agent in 1983 and worked for several independent insurance agencies before becoming the PA Marketing Representative of an excess and surplus lines wholesaler based out of Sea Girt, New Jersey, in 1998. It was this job that brought her to visit Sterner Insurance for the first time, and their upbeat attitude and resourcefulness quickly made them a favorite client.

Michelle earned her Certificate in General Insurance in 1986, and the Accredited Advisor in Insurance designation in 1988. She was awarded the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation in 1994, and is a member of the CPCU Society of Northeastern PA. She is a member and two term local President of NAIW Lehigh Valley, an association dedicated to career development, education and leadership training for insurance professionals. She holds both the Certified Professional Insurance Woman’s designation and the Diversified Advanced Education certification with NAIW. From 2003 to the end of 2006 she managed Business Insurance Specialists until the owner chose to retire, and the decision was made to sell the Agency.
